Position Title: Visit Oakville Ambassador – Canada 150

Pay: $12.07 per hour

Job Type: Part-time contract (approximately 30 hours per week, includes weekends and holidays)

Job Duration: Late May – Labour Day

Location: Various locations around town

Position Summary:

Oakville welcomes well over one million visitors to town each year, and summer is peak visitor season. Visit Oakville Ambassadors provide friendly, helpful service to visitors and residents, contributing to a pleasurable visit and leaving a positive impression of Oakville. Visit Oakville Ambassadors duties include:

Provide exceptional visitor services

• Greet and welcome visitors and residents
• Listen and respond to visitor questions
• Provide detailed information on/referrals to increase economic impact on:
  • Where to eat, stay, shop
  • Events and attractions
  • Locations and directions

Collect visitor information

• Keep records and daily log sheets
• Manage the visitor guest book
• Coordinate a visitor survey

Promoting Canada 150 around Town

• Promote Canada 150 events/exhibits
• Encourage photos with Canada 150 character cut-outs
• Spread Canada 150 goodwill (parking tokens, helping with packages, coupons)
• Encourage visitors and residents to participate in Canada 150 social media campaign

Overseeing the Visit Oakville information booth

• Maintaining a safe and attractive booth at all time
• Stocking informational brochures
• Other duties, as needed.

 Knowledge & Skills:

• Positive, friendly and dependable
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills are essential
• A thorough knowledge of the Oakville community
• Excellent computer skills, including internet applications such as Google maps
• A valid driver’s license is an asset

Successful candidates will need to be available two weekdays in mid-May for training and to work the Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday and Labour Day weekends.
